Our services
Timekeeping for your events, from entries to final results
Based in Werbomont, Belgium, RIS (Races Information Services) has been timing sporting events in Belgium and abroad since 1980. With more than 45 years of experience in motorsport, cycling and running, we now handle close to 90 events a year, from one-day trail runs to 24-hour endurance races.
01
Online entries
Online entry form, with the entry list and classes available in real time. For mass-participation events, online payment is built in. It is also the entry platform for the FMB enduro, supermoto, trial, BEX and road racing championships.
02
On-site timekeeping
Our team is on site on race day with the right equipment for each discipline:
- Motorsport: MyLaps or Chronelec transponders, depending on the system used by the competing series. A Race Result chip worn by each driver identifies who is at the wheel, so the driver’s name is shown live, even through driver changes.
- Endurance cycling: chips fitted in water bottles and MyLaps transponders.
- Mass-participation events: Race Result chips, detecting hundreds of participants at the same timing point.
03
TV timing screens
Classifications shown on the circuit’s TV screens through its network. From 1 to 8 different TV pages can be broadcast at the same time, for spectators, the pit lane and race control.
04
Live timing
Standings are updated live online. Spectators, drivers and teams follow them on their phones.
05
Live tracking
In motorsport, vehicle positions are tracked live on a map of the course in two ways: by simulation from passing times, or as real GPS positions, updated 10 times per second, using the MyLaps X2 Link system.
06
Race control support
With the MyLaps X2 Link system, we receive each vehicle’s GPS position 10 times per second. Race control gets accurate tracking over the whole course and can check every competitor’s speed at any moment, for example in the pit lane or under yellow flags.
It can also display race flags directly in the car, so every driver is warned instantly, wherever they are on the track.
07
TV graphics
For TV broadcasts, we send the timing graphics overlaid on the picture: scrolling leaderboard, driver names, gaps, lap times and more.
08
Results and reports
Published online as soon as each session ends:
- overall, class and group classifications;
- individual classification for every driver, even when several drivers share a vehicle;
- lap-by-lap times, best sectors, times and stints per driver;
- hour-by-hour classifications for endurance events;
- PDF and Excel files ready to share.
All results remain available in our archive, going back to 2007.
09
Photo finish
A photo finish camera takes a picture of each vehicle as it crosses the finish line. It serves as a backup to the timing system and separates competitors in close finishes.
Coming soon: this camera will also be able to detect track limit infringements.
